I decided to sacrifice sobriety for the Lenten season. My sermons have never been better. But today I fell from my commitment just long enough to read this. Back to my cheap Scotch and watching Dog the Bounty Hunter. Its obvious the world of 'single vision' still sucks.

As I was driving home, I passed one of those little automalls - gas station, muffler repair, oil change, collision repair, etc.  It has one of those LED signs which informs you of the latest specials, time, temp, etc.   As I passed, this flickered across the screen: "ASK NANCY ABOUT HER PMS!!!!!!"  I'm guessing that the acronym stands for something like Preventative Maintenance Service, but I am betting that Nancy is going to take an awful lot of ribbing from that sign.

OK, it wasn't intended as a joke:

Obama thinks he is a good talker, but he is often undisciplined when he speaks. He needs to understand that as President, his words will be scrutinized and will have impact whether he intends it or not. In this regard, President Bush is an excellent model; Obama should take a lesson from his example. Bush never gets sloppy when he is speaking publicly. He chooses his words with care and precision, which is why his style sometimes seems halting. In the eight years he has been President, it is remarkable how few gaffes or verbal blunders he has committed. If Obama doesn't raise his standards, he will exceed Bush's total before he is inaugurated.
 

Yeah, Bush chooses his words carefully.  There aren't even enough examples to write a paragraph about let alone many, MANY books.

OK, not really.....

Over at the Culvers VoteCustard site, I am offered the choice between Reese's E. Buttercup (I guess his running mate is Hot Fudge) and Heath Toffeebits (with Caramel). 

Well, obviously the former is the far superior candidate, but how can I, in good conscience, vote for it with that obvious association they have made?!?!?!

The horror!!!!   Whatever shall I do?!?

I just sent a message via his website to one of my favorite comedians (well the comedian responsible for one of my favorite acts of comedy: Jimmy Tingle.

Mr. Tingle,

I am a HUGE fan of one of your projects Strange Bedfellows: Comedy & Politics, with your fellow comedians, Will Durst, Barry Crimmins, and Randy Credico. Among other quotes from that album forever ingrained in "the crevices of my mind" (like the Flintstones vitamins jingle) will be you saying (as Jack Ruby) "Oswald got Kennedy, I got Oswald, but there'll be no peace in this land until the Tingle kids are dead!" 

I find that album (all four comedians) endlessly funny, and I find that many of the jokes are still particularly relevent in today's political climate. Yourself on illegal immigration: "They're not taking our jobs; they're DOING our jobs." (Yes, I can almost quote the entire thing verbatim.) 

So my question to you is this: have you ever thought of making another such album (or do they already exist unbeknownst to me?) with the political theme and with other comedians, whether they be the same or a different group? I would buy it in a second.
