I didn't enjoy that

The weekend was pretty crappy.  First, there was the water heater incident on Friday, which, combined with the weather, screwed up a couple of things, like getting my drivers license renewed (leaving only Tuesday to do it before it expires).  Saturday I decided to be somewhat social and go out to my parents house.  I got some last minute shopping done with my dad before mom got off of work.  Then we went out for Chinese buffet.  Then it decided to really start snowing in earnest.  I watched the "football game" which left me angry.  The wind and snow got so bad that it created blizzardlike conditions and whiteouts.  I had little choice but to stay at my parents' house.  Not prepared, I had to sleep with my contacts in.  All of this made me increasingly impatient and frustrated, and I finally made it back to my place mid-afternoon on Sunday, tired and cranky so that I didn't accomplish anything.  Now back to work.  Yay!!!

stream of consciousness unloading

It's 1:30am and there's not a chance of sleep in sight.  I have a monster headache that 5 tylenol and half a glass of whiskey won't kill.  And my mind refuses to shut down and let me rest.  I've been avoiding making a decision for weeks now on what to do over the holidays.  On the one hand it's my perceived expectations of what people expect of me versus what I expect of myself and there's all kinds of petty little personal hangups I have, but dammit I can't help feeling this way.  I got in a tiff with my mom about it about a week ago;  it upset me and when I called her on it, she got very upset, too.  I know I need to work through this stuff both internally and externally.  I actually thought of calling my parents, but .... it's the middle of the night and it would upset them and I just don't do that type of thing.  I've been considering just going over and talking but I worry about upsetting my dad's heart condition or my mom's high blood pressure or my own.  Anyone reading this who doesn't know me very well probably thinks I'm insane and have gone over the edge.  Those who know me can make a good estimation of what some of this is about and thanks for putting up with me.  lol  It's really strange how much I've grown to dislike this time of year when it used to be my absolute favorite (Christmas, birthday, etc.)

Anyway, off to try to get some sort of rest.......  Oh yeah, and work also absolutely sucks in December because my boss takes pretty much the whole month off and I have to do his job as well as mine.....  Yippeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

Check that!
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

So, I got a Best Buy Reward Zone coupon in my email last night for $5.  I decided to stop off after work.  It was immediately after I walked in the door that I noticed the kiosk marked $5 - $22 OFF.  Nothing jumped out at me on the front side of the shelf, but when I walked around to the other side .... I saw it ...... calling out to me....... FIREFLY.  Now I've put off this purchase for many months and many reasons:  I'm not likely to watch too many entire TV shows multiple times; it was more expensive than ... well, than I would like; it went on sale during Christmas, but, still heeding my mom's rules, I didn't buy it because it was on my Christmas/Birthday list and someone may have bought it for me (they didn't!)  So I pick it up and the only price sticker on it is $40.99.  With my luck this one will only be $5 OFF (at Christmas it had gone down to about $25, IIRC), which is still more than I want to pay.

So I take it up to the register to have them scan the price and ........$19.99!!!!

That's right $19.99!  Can't nobody pass that up!  So now I can watch the entire show over again and follow it up with Serenity.  I'm psyched.

Oh, and I also picked up The Skeleton Key for $7.50.

Total = $23.95

Nice!
